Rather, we aim to know each family. We want to have a relationship where we see you for all of your ailments and answer not just the questions you have, but give you answers to problems that haven’t arisen yet.

About Dr. Shakir
Dr. Shakir is a board certified pediatrician. He earned his degree in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from St. George’s University.
He completed his residency in pediatrics at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Since then, he has spent the better part of a decade working in major children’s hospitals caring for patients in emergency rooms and inpatient and critical care settings. He served on faculty and was heavily involved in education at Emory University as well as the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. He was also an attending at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Shakir has published research in pediatric gastroenterology as well as created a trademarked survey tool and multiple applications to help parents and families deal with anxiety and depression and cyberbullying. He continues to pursue his interests in childhood mental health, nutrition, and exercise.
Dr. Shakir was regularly featured as the media representative for pediatrics for Emory University while he was on faculty there. He received awards from his peers and patients in excellence in patient care and teamwork from Emory University and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Shakir is the proud father of 3 children and is happily married to his wife, Naseem. He is also a proud native New Yorker who continues to root for his hometown Mets and Giants.

Amazing Doctor!
Dr. Shakir has been our go to doctor for our children age 6 and 2, since the time they were born. Besides being very experienced and knowledgeable, he also knows how to allay any concerns or fears parents, especially new parents, may have with regards to their kid. He is never dismissive of our concerns, listens to what we have to say, asks the right questions and makes a diagnosis. He is not an alarmist and explains the medical stuff patiently and calmly. He is personable and accessible anytime -he has answered my texts countless times after hours. He always follows up, even if I forget to update him. He genuinely cares for all his patients. Dr. Shakir is the best doctor we could have asked for for our children!

Dr. Taaha Shakir is amazing!
Our family experienced a traumatic event last September with our youngest daughter in which we had to go to the hospital. Seeing a three year old covered with tubes leaves a heart in pain. We were transferred to Edwards hospital by ambulance unsure of the next steps. A concerned worried family was greeted by an amazing staff. We had the privilege to have Dr. Taaha Shakir as our daughters primary doctor. He was amazing and patient and put our minds, ours being the parents, at ease. He did a great job of assessing our daughter without being overly invasive, observing her breathing while discussing the situation with us. Even to this day, a year later, we still reached out to ask how our daughter Hazel is doing. The experience that we faced with the expert guidance of Dr. Taaha Shakir allowed us to focus on what’s important, the health of our child. I will forever appreciate the care in which my family received.

Dr. Shakir is an excellent doctor for my children. He takes the time to really listen to my concerns and give knowledgeable, thoughtful, thorough advice. Furthermore, he truly cares about the health and well-being of children, and encourages good physical and social choices for kids and parents alike. On more than one occasion, Dr. Shakir has been available to help one of my four kids after hours or simply to reassure an anxious mom that I am following the best course of treatment for my sick kid.
